So Where Do I Go From Here?

Sun Jun 14, 2009, 6:49 PM
Hey there watchers and other lurkers!

Well I sent off the last of my 10 illustrations to my hometown's Historical Society last Tuesday. Booyah! *Edit: You can see the remaining pictures in my Scrapbook* The leader of the exhibit seemed to be pleased with the results, which is a relief to me since she is my mother. ;-) The exhibit is about local 19th century mills and what they produced. I haven't posted the rest of the scans here because they are either 1.too mundane a subject(I'm sorry but a stack of flour sacks just isn't very scintillating) or 2.just not good enough to be deviations.

So, where do I go from here? I have lots and lots of ideas, Big Ideas even, but not so much production. I'm still reading and doing practice sketches when I can. A few ideas for art projects I'm interested in doing:

A. pencil portrait of my parents;
B. Painting of the old family farm;
C. Harvey Pekar/American Splendor-style comic journal.

I'm inclined towards A or C since I've had no experience at all in painting. I have some great ideas for a comic journal but Or should I take formal drawing classes before attempting any of the above? What do you think I should do?

  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: DBT's Southern Rock Opera
  • Reading: American Splendor
  • Watching: Jon's Little League playoffs
  • Playing: In Your Own Sweet Way
  • Eating: Pepperoni Pizza
  • Drinking: Iced Tea

    Why couldn't the anarchist draw a straight line? Because he didn't have any rulers!

    Always my pleasure. You are an inspiration! Very glad you broke thru your drawing block, and in such a big way too!

    I'm hoping to have a breakthrough myself. I have been drawing all this time but nothing deviant worthy yet. Still not happy with my scanner.

    A bad scanner can ruin a picture, tis true...hope fully you'll get it sorted soon. :hug:

    And thankyou, Charles :heart:
